Apes curamus et nos curant (We look after bees and they look after us)
To be held at: Frodsham Community Centre, Fluin Lane, Frodsham, WA6 7QN on Saturday September 5th 2026 from 9:30am to 12:00pm

This workshop is designed for 11 to 17 year olds who would like to learn about bees and microscopes. It is intended to be a fun event focussing mainly on bees and pollen. There will be the opportunity to learn how to use microscopes and to mount specimens onto glass slides. We will use the microscopes to answer questions like how many eyes does a bee have? how do bees walk up window glass? What plants have my bees been foraging on?
The workshop is open to junior members of the Association and children/grandchildren of members. The cost is £5 per child which is to cover the cost of room hire and refreshments. In accordance with the Cheshire BKA Safeguarding policy children need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
You don’t need any previous experience with microscopes. Microscopes will be provided although if you have one of your own, you are welcome to bring it. Course numbers will be limited on this workshop due to the availability of microscopes, so please book early.
