Apes curamus et nos curant (We look after bees and they look after us)
Applications for all exams are now OPEN!!
The 2026 dates and fees for BBKA exams are shown HERE, and are in the Member Hub on the BBKA Learning Online website.
Most Module exams are charged at £50. You’ll get 50% of this returned by Cheshire BKA if you are successful. To encourage entry, Module 3 has been reduced to £10 entry. The Module exams will be on the morning of 21st March and 14 November and are available both in person and online.
Candidates sitting online exams should ensure that they have downloaded the correct software and their computers have completed any essential updates well in advance of the exam day.
For the Junior, Basic and Honeybee Health Assessments, applications are now open and the closing date is 30 April.
The Honeybee Health Assessment has reduced in price to £25; the Exam Board strongly recommend that candidates hold the Honeybee Health Certificate before the General Husbandry Assessment is attempted.
The Microscopy Assessment date is moved to the last weekend in September, and applications will close on 30 June.
We have just been sent notification that the BBKA is embarking on a comprehensive review of the AH Assessment during 2026. While this work is underway, the Board of Trustees and the Examinations Board have chosen to pause AH Assessments in 2026. This will draw the existing AH journey to a close and enable the BBKA to focus on developing the new programme.
Candidates, who took the AH Assessment in 2024 or 2025 and did not achieve success, may re-apply this year to complete their AH journey before the new course is published. The application fee for this re-assessment will be £135 per candidate, the summer 2025 cost.
The BBKA will, of course, provide a full refund within the next 10 days to any new candidate who has already applied.
The AH assessment programme remains an important part of the BBKA qualification journey, and we very much look forward to providing and announcing a revitalised pathway. We expect to confirm arrangements once the review concludes.
Advanced Husbandry Assessments have been arranged to take place at Stoneleigh over four days in July, depending on numbers of applicants; this is a change from previous years, where two weekends had been offered.
